Educators

If you are an educator looking to implement this learning platform in a classroom, we recommend you take a two step process to introduce this tool to your students. Begin by introducing the concept of 3D virtual worlds and how to function within Second Life. If you go to the following link, you can get a great in classroom exercise to get your students off to the right start:

Have your students sign on and complete all aspects of this check sheet. This will get them to perform all of the necessary tasks and set them up for more focus on the learning environment that Modoh Island provides.

Once they have mastered the checklist, go into Modoh Island and start the game, which leads off with a scavenger hunt offered by Steve the Pirate. The tasks comprising the scavenger hunt provide additional orientation to Modoh Island, as well as providing reinforcement of basic navigational skills. The scavenger hunt will take about 30 minutes to complete.
